Cale Makar
This news isn’t really shocking at all. The young, energetic future of the Avalanche d-core has taken home the rookie of the year honors. Cale Makar exploded onto the scene in last year’s playoffs and kept the momentum going this season as well. Makar had 12 goals and 38 assists for 50 points in his rookie campaign. This is not that bad of an offensive performance for a defenseman, let taking a rookie defenseman.

Makar beats out Vancouver Canucks’ defenseman Quinn Hughes and Chicago Blackhawks’ forwards Dominik Kubalik. Those two had unbelievable seasons as well. What a moment for the young defenseman out of UMASS Amherst. Congratulations Cale Makar. This is just the beginning of a great career ahead.
