Chicago has sent Brandon Saad and Dennis Gilbert to Colorado for Nikita Zadorov and Anton Lindholm. Chicago will retain one million dollars on Saad’s six million dollar contract making it a five million dollar cap hit for the Avalanche. Zadorov will bring some nasty and youth to the Chicago defensive group.

Nikita Zadorov is 25-years-old and had four goals and nine assists for 13 points last season. Zadorov is a defensive defenseman that has yet to hit his prime but has a physical element that can change games. Going the other way is 27-year-old Brandon Saad, who had 21 goals, 12 assists, and 33 points in 58 games last season. Saad has lots of skill and was a sought after trade target for multiple teams this offseason. Saad is in the last year of his contract and could be a one-season rental as Colorado is committed to contending for the Stanley Cup next season. Stan Bowman loves to make trades involving Saad, as this is the third time he gets a good return in Zadorov, who looks like he will be a more than promising NHL player in the future. Who won this trade? Let us know.
