Edmonton’s Pitch To Be A 2020 Playoff Host City Rules

Reported earlier by TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Edmonton Oilers ownership group is coming up with a pretty awesome presentation to be one of the host sites to finish the 2019-2020 NHL season. From all the pitches I’ve been able to gather from people around the league, I believe this one, in particular, will pique the NHLPA’s interest.

Curious what NHL players think about this? Edmonton is rolling out an impressive “lifestyle” presentation in its Hub city quest. Secured golf course. Cool temps. Outdoor big screens for movies/other games. Some fun stuff planned. More tonight in Insider Trading.

According to a source in Edmonton the pitch the Oilers brass is “super player-friendly” and they believe its the first presentation of its kind.  A private golf course and not having to burn up in the Arizona heat in the dead of summer makes it a pretty compelling idea, to begin with.  But then when you add an outdoor drive-in type movie theatre and other team building game facilities, it’s shaping up to be one of the most intriguing offers put forward to date.
