Columbus is gearing up for a massive move at the start of free agency tomorrow. The Blue Jackets announced that they have shipped the former number two overall pick in the 2012 NHL draft Ryan Murray to the Devils in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2021 draft. This is clearly a cap dump in order to make a huge push for some of the top free agents on the market. The move opens up $4.6 million in cap space and is one of three major cap moves the Blue Jackets have made in the last 24 hours.

The Devils add to a struggling d-core a solid defensive option to play with Subban. With all this space now for Columbus, they shift their attention to free agency tomorrow. A name they are heavily interested in is the talents of Taylor Hall. Does this move make Columbus the lead contender to acquire Hall on the market? It will definitely be interesting to unfold as the market opens up tomorrow. We shall find out.
