Not the biggest trade of the offseason, but it is a trade in the end. The Minnesota Wild have acquired forward Nick Bjugstad from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. Bjugstad is going back home where he played college and he is looking to have a bounceback year fresh off of back surgery. Bjugstad will wear number 27 for the Wild.

Welcome back to Minnesota, @NBjugstad72!

The draft pick isn’t believed to be a high one, but this gives the Penguins five total picks for the 2021 draft. Bjugstad had his best years with the Panthers and is looking for a fresh start with his hometown team. His big-bodied presence will be relied on with a team in Minnesota that could use some more grit up front. Overall, it’s a win for both sides. Minnesota gets depth on their forwards while Pittsburgh gets a draft pick for someone who really wasn’t in their future plans.
