Cam Atkinson, Flyers Crush Bruins 6-3

It looks like the Philadelphia Flyers are getting some positive results from their offseason. There was no team busier this offseason than the Flyers. Their biggest need came to their defense as they had allowed the most goals in the NHL last year. Another sneaky problem this team was having was scoring goals as well. Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier can only do so much for this team. That is why they went out and acquired a great goal scorer in Cam Atkinson.

Cam Atkinson is a former 40 goal scorer in Columbus. This guy knows how to score goals in bunches when needed. When he was traded from the Blue Jackets, it came as a shock as he truly defined what it was like to be a Blue Jacket. The heart and soul of the team were gone and off to Philadelphia. He seems to be fitting in extremely well since his arrival in Philadelphia. Atkinson continued his success tonight to help the Flyers get a big win over the Bruins 6-3.

A Night To Forget For Swayman

Jeremy Swayman has been a huge positive since his arrival in the Bruins organization. With the situation of Tuukka Rask unfolding, the Bruins seemed content with having Swayman getting more games under his belt. He has a lot of upsides, but every goalie will have horrible moments in their career. Tonight, Cam Atkinson and the Flyers made sure that night was tonight for Swayman.

Swayman by far has the worst start of his young career tonight. The team in front of him didn’t help him, but he let in some soft goals to kill any momentum for the Bruins. The first goal by Cam Atkinson, in particular, was a goal Swayman needed to have after the Bruins had pinned Philadelphia in their own zone for a while. Swayman ended up with 19 saves on 24 shots on goal from Philadelphia. It is the first time in his career that he has allowed more than three goals in a start.

An Exciting New Line For Philadelphia

This second line for the Flyers should have their fans excited. We all know how electric Joel Farabee has been since his arrival into the NHL. His new linemates this season happen to be the two newest Flyers forwards in Derick Brassard and Cam Atkinson. Brassard has bounced around the league ever since being traded to Ottawa in 2016. So far this season, he is looking like the Brassard that was a force for the Rangers back in the day.

Cam Atkinson is a gifted NHL goal scorer. When you combine these three players together, their chemistry seems to be off the charts. The three of them combined to score three of the Flyers’ six goals tonight. This includes the eventual game-winner early on in the third period by Cam Atkinson. Combined, the trio put up six points and helped Philadelphia deliver a crushing victory to their rivals from Beantown.
