The race to the playoffs continues to heat up as we enter the final month. The Boston Bruins currently hold the last playoff spot in the East Division. They came into tonight’s game with only a two-point lead in the standings over the team that trails them. That team is the New York Rangers. The Bruins recently had a six-game winning streak, but have lost two straight since. One of those games was against these Pittsburgh Penguins. For David Krejci and the Bruins, that game was one to forget.
The whole team seemed lost during the matinee on Sunday in Pittsburgh. This ultimately led to a 1-0 shutout at the hands of Tristen Jarry and the Penguins. Tonight, the Bruins knew they needed to put together a complete effort to beat this Penguins team. It is safe to say they looked a lot better than how they did on Sunday. One player in particular was David Krejci.
David Krejci Sparks Team in Second Period
It was looking like we might have a repeat of Sunday’s game. The two teams took a scoreless tie into the third period of Sunday. It was there the Penguins scored the lone goal for the 1-0 win. Tonight, David Krejci was not going to let that happen once again. The Bruins have been pleased to see the increased production since the trade deadline from David Krejci. He continues that tonight as he breaks the scoreless tie late in the second period. This goal would end up being a huge momentum boost for the Bruins heading into the third period.

Marchand and Hall Produce Huge Goals
This game seemed destined to be a disaster for the Bruins in the third period. It is just the trend that people notice as Bruins fans. Tonight, that was not the case. Brad Marchand is making a huge case for a chance at the Hart Trophy this season. Tonight, when his team needed a huge goal, he delivers once again. He finds a rebound off a David Pastrnak shot to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead in the third period.

Taylor Hall has been a perfect fit for the Bruins. He was acquired at the NHL Trade Deadline for Buffalo for an absolute steal. For the Sabres, he only managed to put home two goals all season. In nine games for the Bruins, Hall now has four goals. It is amazing what happens when you put a superstar center like David Krejci with a guy like Taylor Hall. Tonight’s goal from Hall was by far his prettiest goal as a Boston Bruin. His pure snipe helped make it 3-0 in the third period. A late Jeff Carter goal for Pittsburgh was not enough. The Bruins take this game 3-1 for a huge two points in the standings.
That move or that celly, take your pick.
