Tyrell Fortune vs Matt Mitrione Fight Added to Bellator 255

The latest addition to Bellator 255 is Tyrell Fortune vs Matt Mitrione. First reported by Bellator officials, this is another great matchup for the April 2nd card.

Bellator 255 will be the first event of a tripleheader scheduled to air on Showtime. Patricio Freire will defend his featherweight title in a rematch with Emmanuel Sanchez.

The Road to Tyrell Fortune vs Matt Mitrione

Tyrell Fortune (9-1 BMMA) is one of Bellator’s shining home-grown prospects. Previously 8-0 with the promotion, a match against Timothy Johnson at Bellator 239 would end the remarkable run via KO/TKO.

Formerly one of the nation’s top high-school wrestling prospects, Fortune went on to become a Division II national champion at 285 lbs with a 37-1 record at Grand Canyon University.

Diving straight into professional MMA with no amateur experience, Fortune is a different breed. He impressively ran thru a good portion of the Bellator heavyweight division, but that’s not all. After suffering that first loss to Timothy Johnson, he bounced back with a decision victory over Said Sowma at Bellator 251.

Matt Mitrione (13-8-1NC, 4-3-1NC BMMA) While not being known for holding the prettiest record, Mitrione has been in there with some of the best.

Holding wins over names like Derrick Lewis, Roy Nelson, Kimbo Slice, Gabriel Gonzaga, and last but not least the living legend Fedor Emelianenko;  “Meathead” actually has a far more impressive resume than one would think.

A southpaw who knocks out his opponents with a right hand, despite being a lefty, Mitrione has always been a bit unique. This fan-favorite returns on April 2nd!

This is the latest lineup for Bellator 255, but keep in mind fights could get re-scheduled and the order of fights shuffled as bouts are added and fall off.
