This game is going to be emotional for Boston fans. Zdeno Chara was the captain of the Bruins from 2006-2020. This offseason, both sides decided it was time to move on. Chara proceeded to sign with the Washington Capitals on a one-year deal. Patrice Bergeron is now the captain and the two sides are set to face-off tonight when the Bruins take on the Capitals for the first time since Chara’s departure.
Tonight, for the first time since April 11, 2006…

In his fourteen-year career in Boston, Chara was a monster. He manages to hold onto a stat of over 1,000 games played in a spoked B. Even at 43 years of age, Chara is a force in his own defensive zone. He still has a rocket of a slapshot and can be a force on the penalty kill.

David Pastrnak, unless any setbacks happen, is set to return to the lineup for the first time this season. Pastrnak has been recovering from offseason hip surgery. He led the team in goals last year with 48 which was tied for the league lead.
Jack Studnicka will not go tonight after taking a big hit in practice the other day. Head Coach Bruce Cassidy says Karson Kuhlman could replace Studnicka if he is not ready to go.
The defense seems to remain the same except for one exception. Matt Grzelcyk suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday’s win against Pittsburgh. Connor Clifton will get the nod to replace him in the lineup.
Matt Grzelcyk (lower body) will not return to tonight's game.

Alex Ovechkin returns to practice today. Head coach Peter Laviolette says they will assess if Ovi is ready to play tonight. If Washington gets Ovechkin back, the Bruins better watch out for that deadly one-timer of his. That can change the game in a second.
Dmitri Orlov also returns to practice today. If the Capitals get him back, they will acquire more help on the offensive side on defense.
