Hey, hey. What do you say? The Hurricanes keep on rolling through the NHL standings. They have been neck-and-neck with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers for first place all season long. Even if we see a Hurricanes victory one night, the other two teams seem to always match it. It has been a crazy season in the Central Division standings. In this game, we had two teams on the opposite ends of the playoff bubble. The Hurricanes are sitting comfortably in third place while the Stars are on the outside looking in.
It has been an extremely frustrating year for the Dallas Stars. The reigning Western Conference Champions haven’t found their stride just yet. They haven’t gotten any luck from their offense all year. It has transferred into tonight’s game as well. This game saw a Hurricanes victory in a very low-scoring game. They take this game by a 1-0 score. Jordan Martinook scored his second goal of the season as the only goal of the game.
Jordan Martinook comin' in hot!

Petr Mrazek is Back
Petr Mrazek has established himself as a great option between the pipes since arriving in Carolina. He has missed some significant time this season due to injury. His last appearance in a game was on January 30th against these Dallas Stars. Tonight, he got the nod for his first game back. Not a bad way to come back to the team if you ask me. Mrazek was a brick wall in his first game back.
Mrazek was tested during various points of the game. His busiest period was in the third period when he made twelve saves on twelve shots. In total, Mrazek stopped all 28 shots he was faced. He improves his record to 3-1-0 on the young season with this Hurricanes victory.
Positives For Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars seemed to have a dreadful night tonight. The offense wasn’t there, but the rest of the team seemed pretty solid. Jake Oettinger has been a shining “Star” for the Stars all season long. With the injuries to Ben Bishop and Anton Khudobin, Oettinger has been solid since taking over the starting role. He stopped 37 shots on 38 attempts in the Hurricanes victory. Even though he gets the loss, he kept the Stars in this game when they had no hope for a win.
The defense was a big improvement tonight too. Despite giving up 38 shots, the Stars kept the Hurricanes to the perimeter for the majority of the night. If they keep playing this way, they will have a chance for one last playoff push. Time is running out for the Stars. They need to make up some ground really fast.
