Jeff Petry
The Canadiens are in desperate need of a winning streak. After firing their head coach Claude Julien recently, this team is bound to explode into a frenzy of wins. The way they can do that is with their talented offense, but their defense needs to play better as well. Another player that needs to play much better is goaltender Carey Price. Backup goaltender Jake Allen has looked much more confident in the net this season for this team. Tonight, the Habs take on the team that has defeated them many times this year: the Ottawa Senators. Jeff Petry now takes center stage.
One of the true stars of this team this year is Jeff Petry. He is making a true case for the Norris Trophy early on this season. His great defensive awareness, as well as his offensive production, have uplifted the Canadiens all season long. He continues that tonight as he gets a goal and an assist to help the Canadiens get a huge win over Ottawa. The score is 3-1.
Jeff Petry scored the @CanadiensMTL's second goal and now leads all defensemen with seven in 2020-21.
Montreal's defensemen have combined for 14 goals this season (14-34—48 in 21 GP), the highest such total in the NHL. #NHLStats pic.twitter.com/75lEowBISL

What a shot from Jeff Petry. This is exactly what the Canadiens need from him moving forward to make a major push towards the playoffs. The Canadiens also got goals from Brendan Gallagher and Tyler Toffoli (EN). Ottawa gets their lone goal from Artem Zub. Montreal will play Winnipeg on Thursday while Ottawa will play Calgary on that same day.
