Jon Jones will likely go down as the greatest light heavyweight of all time.
This Saturday at UFC 259, the lightweight title is on the line. However, Jon Jones is not likely to face the winner. Light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz will defend his belt against the current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Jon Jones has mocked both fighters suggesting the challenge at light heavyweight was too easy.
Yep, just couldn’t see myself beating Jan, his style is like nothing I’ve seen before 🥴and the thought of fighting a middleweight striker in 2021 was the final straw, figured Francis take down defense was worse, had to run 🧠 https://t.co/88jAHojzlL

Jon Jones loves controversy and trash talk, so he will likely still be paying close attention to UFC 259. Although, the next PPV is where Jones will want the winner of the main event for his next opponent. UFC 260 is headlined by a bought for baddest man on the planet between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou.
Jon Jones Moves to Heavyweight
Jon Jones has made his plans clear: Jones wants to move up to the heavyweight division and claim the title. However, Jones has never fought at heavyweight and is cutting the line straight to the title. UFC Vegas 19 should have been a fight for a title shot between Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes. Then again it’s Jon Jones and he’s never really lost a fight so he gets whatever he wants.

Jon Jones is now king of the heavyweight division, and he calls the shots. If Jon Jones loses in his debut in his new division then the crown will disappear and so will his power. Derrick Lewis will be chomping at the bit for his title shot and has the chance to either stay active or sit on the sidelines and wait for his opportunity. Historically Lewis has been an active fighter, so he could either fight Alexander Volkov or the loser of Stipe versus Ngannou.
The heavyweight division has some added excitement with the addition of Jon Jones. Unfortunately, for Lewis, it likely means he will have to fight again. Or he can wait his turn for a shot at the heavyweight title.
