Lightning Bounce Back With 6-4 Win

Ryan McDonagh

The defending champions are back at it again. This team saw an abysmal effort from their club for their last game and responded tonight. The Blue Jackets got a huge win against these Bolts on Tuesday night. The final score was not a clue of how the game went. While the score was 4-2, the Lightning got demolished the whole game. With the Blue Jackets hunting down a playoff spot, the Lightning knew their hands would be full. They certainly needed an excellent effort for a win tonight.

The effort tonight was a much different look from what we saw on Tuesday night. The Lightning jumped out to an early 4-1 lead before the first period came to a close. That was because of a Ryan McDonagh goal that happened with one second left in the first period. McDonagh would put home another one before the second period ended to put the Lightning up 6-2. The Blue Jackets would put home two more goals before the end of the game. but the Lightning hold on for the win. The final score was 6-4.

Lightning Stars Come To Play

The Tampa Bay Lightning have some major superstars on their team. This includes players like Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, and Point. These guys need to be on their best effort each night for Tampa Bay to dominate this league. Tonight, they were back at it. Steven Stamkos gets his 17th of the season on the power-play to put Tampa up 2-0. We also saw Ryan McDonagh get as many goals in this game as he had all season heading into this game with two tonight. These players need to produce on an elite level to take Tampa deep into the playoffs once again.

A few of the under-the-radar players produced tonight as well. Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow were both acquired at the deadline last season by Tampa Bay. They were a few key pieces in helping the Lighting lift Lord Stanley’s Cup last season. Coleman gets his eighth goal of the season and Goodrow gets his sixth.

Ross Colton Emergence

Who the hell is Ross Colton? It seems every time I recap the Lightning, he is the center of attention on a goal. In just fourteen games played this season, Colton has put up six goals and three assists. That is pretty good on a Lightning team that gets most of their production from their star players. The rookie is playing some great hockey recently. He is fitting in perfectly with this Lightning group in the absence of Kucherov. He put home his sixth goal of the season in this game to help the Lightning win the game.
