Maple Leafs Take Commanding 3-1 Series Lead

Maple Leafs

Jack Campbell

Toronto is on the verge of history. This team has not won a playoff series since the Playstation still had Crash Bandicoot as their main attraction. Dinosaurs roamed the earth the last time this team won a Stanley Cup. This year, with the way everything is set up, Toronto has a real shot at making the final four teams. This North Division saw Connor McDavid and the Oilers get swept by Winnipeg last night. It just goes to show how bad this division is, but the Toronto Maple Leafs are buzzing right now.

It is no secret that the Maple Leafs have the power to make a deep run, but history is not on their side. These Maple Leafs are the center of attention when it comes to scrutiny in the league. Their fans have been waiting for a team like this for a long time. This team has everything they need to make a deep run. The goalies are hot, the offense is buzzing, and the defense is stingy.

Willy Nylander is Buzzing

As the Greek Rocket would say “Mr. Playoff”. This guy has been lighting it up all series long. Before this series, William Nylander had five goals in 25 career playoff games for the Maple Leafs. He now has a goal in all four games of this Canadiens series. William Nylander is a lethal option for the Maple Leafs. If he gets going, these Leafs are going to be scary to play against.

Jack Campbell Continues To Shine

What a story this is for the season. Jack Campbell was originally brought here from Los Angeles to stabilize the backup goalie position. The tables have turned and now Jack Campbell is the starter for the Maple Leafs. Ever since Campbell arrived here in Toronto, the Maple Leafs have looked like a different team. He looks calm and collective in the crease and the Maple Leafs are obviously feeding off of his intensity.

In this series, Campbell has been a brick wall. In the four games played in this series, Campbell has only allowed four goals. He also has posted a shutout in tonight’s game. He stops all 32 shots thrown at him and is the anchor to this Maple Leafs team. Toronto is going to need him to continue his dominance in order for them to make a deep run in these playoffs.

The Maple Leafs win this game by a score of 4-0. They lead the series 3-1 and will head home for game five on Thursday night. Will they finally close out a playoff series? We will see.
