Marchand Wins Game 2 In OT Against the Capitals

Brad Marchand

This series is electric. The Washington Capitals and the Boston Bruins do not like each other at all. After an electric win for Washington in game one thanks to a Nic Dowd overtime winner, we turn our heads to game two. The first two lines for Boston were invisible for the game one loss on Saturday night. Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak were extremely brutal. They couldn’t get anything going five-on-five. Tonight, that is a different story.

The Capitals looked to take a stranglehold on this series. The power-play has been buzzing so far and they need that to keep going to take this series for themselves. As for Boston, Craig Anderson has had their number in the playoffs every time he has faced them. Brad Marchand had something to say about that in this game. The Bruins could not afford to go down 2-0 in the series. You need to steal one from Washington on the road to put the pressure on.

Insane First Period

The first period of game one was just brutal to watch. Both teams scored one goal, but no team had many scoring chances that were in the high danger areas. Tonight, that mindset changed a lot between both of the teams. The Bruins got the scoring started early on. Jake DeBrusk has been on the shit list all season in Boston. He now has two goals in these two games and tonight his goal put them up 1-0.

T.J Oshie answered later on with a power-play tip-in goal to tie the game 1-1. St. Patrice Bergeron proceeds to answer with an absolute rip by the glove of Craig Anderson for a 2-1 lead. A wild bounce in front on a Dmitry Orlov shot was eventually tipped in by Garnett Hathaway to tie the game. Tuukka Rask haters came out of hiding after that goal for sure. After one period of play, the two teams were deadlocked at two heading into the second period.

A Hall of a Goal

Taylor Hall was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres for basically a second-round pick. That is called highway robbery at the hands of the Boston Bruins. He has fit in like a glove on this Bruins squad. After Hathaway scored his second goal of the game in the third period, the Bruins were on the verge of disaster. Being down 3-2 on the road in the third period is brutal. Taylor Hall delivers to help send this game to overtime.

Before Brad Marchand came to the rescue, it was Taylor Hall’s turn. A wild scramble in front led to Taylor Hall finding a loose puck in front of Anderson. With seven or so bodies in or in front of the net, Hall finds the puck and slips it through the five hokes. This goal came with just over three minutes in the game to eventually send the game to overtime.

Marchand Sends The Caps Packing

When overtime started, you could tell the Bruins were not coming away with a loss. This team wanted this game to end early so they can head back to Boston tied at 1-1. Brad Marchand was real quiet in game one. Tonight, he made a ton of noise. He takes a sweet feed from Matt Grzelcyk and rips home a one-timer just 39 seconds into the overtime. This series is heading back to Boston tied at 1-1. Take that you rats.
