This is some very sad news for anyone who is a fan of the “Miracle on Ice” team from 1980. A player on that team, Mark Pavelich, was found dead Thursday. Pavelich will always be enshrined in hockey history being on that 1980 USA Olympic team. That team is known for beating the unbeatable Soviet Union en route to an Olympic Gold medal.

During that miraculous run. Mark Pavelich put up some impressive numbers. In seven games played during those Olympics, Pavelich managed to post a goal and six assists in seven games played. That is an average of exactly a point per game. He will live in USA hockey history and had a solid part in that team being able to do what they did.
Pavelich also went on to have a solid career in the NHL. He played for three teams in his NHL career. Those teams were the New York Rangers, Minnesota North Stars, and San Jose Sharks. Over that span, he played in 355 NHL games and put up 137 goals and 192 points for 329 points. His career-high in goals came during the the1982-83 season. That season he posted 37 goals for the Rangers.
We at Tarps Off wish the Pavelich family our deepest condolences, but we also wish good thoughts to anyone who knew Pelich personally.
