Week one of Mullet Monday started off with a bang when Jaromir Jagr’s curls were on display. However, while this week’s mullet is still wicked, this guy has to have one of the best names I’ve heard in my lifetime.
Zigmund “Ziggy” Palffy
Ziggy hails from Skalica, Czechoslovakia where he spent the first 20 years of his life playing hockey.
Palffy made his NHL debut at the age of 21 with the New York Islanders during the 1993-94 season. It wasn’t until the 1995-96 season until Palffy really started to get a hold of the NHL level.
However, his hair game was second to none from the beginning.
A young Ziggy reminds me of Zack Morris. You can’t tell me you don’t see it.
Other than looking like one of the biggest heartthrobs of the 90s. Palffy sported one of the slickest of mullets in the northeast. His mullet had a couple of different variations as the years went on.
This picture displays the classic curls for the girl’s look. You can see how its slicked on the one side with a bit of fluff in the front and then the curls take center stage flowing down the back.
Unfortunately, as Palffy aged, the hair game started to dwindle. Of the more recent pictures I could find of Palffy it just doesn’t look anywhere near as good as it once was.
I can’t tell if this is from picture day or if this is a mugshot from his time in L.A. Definitely not one of his better photos or hairstyles for that matter.
But the kid could fly to the point where his hair would flow in the breeze. Just because he no longer has it does not mean we can’t appreciate what he once had.
