Hurricanes Beat Panthers 3-2, Necas Scores in OT

Martin Necas

The Hurricanes pulled off a great comeback in this one. The Canes seemed like they were done in this game heading into the final minutes, but it was far from over. Former Panther Vincent Trocheck tied the game with 1:33 left in the game. After the third period wasn’t enough, we went to overtime. The Panthers had the majority of shots in this game, but the Hurricanes got the last shot. Martin Necas gets the goal in overtime to send the Hurricanes to a 3-2 win.

The shot was nice from Necas, but it was the pass that takes the honors. What a setup to give Necas a wide-open net for the game-winner. With the point for the OT loss, Florida leapfrogs Tampa Bay for first in the division while Carolina slides into third. Carolina plays Nashville tomorrow while Florida plays Nashville on Thursday.
