Gary Bettman has laid the hammer down on the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes will lose their second round pick in this year’s NHL entry draft and their first round pick in the 2021 NHL entry draft. This comes after Arizona violated the NHL’s combine testing policies by organizing illegal physical testing 2020 draft-eligible players prior to the NHL Combine.

The Combine Testing Policy Memoranda references a fine of no less than $250,000 for each violation, however, Commissioner Bettman decided that taking draft picks would be more appropriate for the extent of their violation.
Club personnel who participated in or contributed to the club’s violation will not be individually disciplined. The NHL has stated that “the NHL will not comment further on this matter at this time.”
