On Friday afternoon the Rose Bowl is set to kick off around 4 pm ET in a battle between the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and the 4th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
I could save us all some time by just saying it how it is. Alabama is going to win this football game. The question is by how much. But that would be too easy. Here are a handful of reasons and statistics to back up why the Tide will Roll over the Irish.
The last time the Irish were in the CFP was in 2018. They played Clemson in the Cotton Bowl and lost by a score of 30 to 3. The last time the Irish played Alabama was in the 2013 BCS National Championship game. That game saw the Tide rolling to a 42-14 victory.
There is skepticism as to if Notre Dame should have even been gifted the 4th seed. Personally, I would have preferred to see Cincinnati in this position but that is another story for another day. The Irish lost to Clemson in the ACC Championship game by a score of 34-10. Was it a healthy Trevor Lawrence that made the difference? Probably. Throw in the fact it was a neutral site game instead of at Notre Dame and you have your answer as to why the Tigers claimed another ACC Title.
Alabama on the other hand has been the most dominant team in the country all year. They had four top 25 wins, two top 10 wins, an undefeated season thus far, and another SEC Title. Second in the nation in points per game with 49.7. This team is unreal and is lead by two of the Heisman favorites in WR Devonta Smith and QB Mac Jones. Throw in RB Najee Harris and you have a three-headed monster running that offense. Could you imagine if Jaylen Waddle was healthy? Throw in a defense that allows less than 20 points per game and you have your recipe for a team that is on their way to another National Championship title.
Why Alabama Will win
I’m going to keep these short and simple. Alabama wins because they are simply the best team in the country and there is only one team that could have a chance to stop them.
Why Notre Dame Will Win
They won’t. Good luck and try not to get embarrassed out there.
