Mike Smith missed the game-winning shot to finish an 11% shooting day for him (1-11). Along with Smith, Franz Wagner had a rough shooting day, shooting only 2-7 from three. Overall, the Wolverines had a horrible offensive day. As a result, Michigan finished the game 6-19 from three and 20-57 overall.
One big factor was missing Isaiah Livers. Livers injured his foot in the previous game and has no timetable for his return. Even with this loss, Michigan should be able to secure a 1-seed for the upcoming NCAA tournament. Although the Wolverines may have lost their best player, they still have a chance to make a deep March run.

Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State had a great game out of Duane Washington today. Washington finished with 24 points and 6 rebounds. The Buckeyes shot 12-22 from three, including 5 from Washington. EJ Lidell was the key side-kick, finishing with 18 points and 3 three-pointers. Ohio State won the game on defense though. Switching between man-to-man and zone defenses confused the Wolverines throughout the entire 40 minutes. This helped the Buckeyes maintain the lead as the offense slowed down. Ohio State will be facing Illinois tomorrow in the Big 10 Championship. This will be Ohio State’s fourth game in 4 days, so the Buckeyes may be tired. This will be the biggest game of the season so far for both teams.

Big 10 Championship
Ohio State and Illinois split their regular season matchups, both winning away from home. Illinois is led by their star guard Ayo Dosunmu, who is having an incredible tournament run. Along with Dosunmu, the Fighting Illini have a big inside presence with Kofi Cockburn. Dosunmu will be matched up with Ohio State’s Duane Washington, so be prepared for a great point-guard battle. Ohio State played today without Kyle Young who is a major part of the Buckeye offense. Although Young sat out today with a concussion, he is still questionable for tomorrows game. With two fast-paced teams, get ready for a lot of scoring.
