The playoffs are off to a hot start. So far, we have now seen two playoff games be completed and both have not disappointed so far. Last night, the Bruins and Capitals needed an extra period to decide the winner. The Capitals ended up getting a huge game one win thanks to Nic Dowd. Today, the. New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins played their first game of the series. After a wild game in regulation, this game needed overtime as well. Kyle Palmieri has entered the chat.
The regulation portion of the game was a wild one. One period, in particular, that was the most entertaining was the third period. Overall, this game topped last night’s game in terms of entertainment and excitement. After a wild regulation, we found ourselves in overtime. The game seemed like it was destined to go to a second overtime. Kyle Palmieri was acquired from New Jersey at the deadline but has had some trouble scoring. Today, he found his scoring touch in a big way.

Intense Third Period
The playoffs are a different breed when it comes to excitement. Today’s game is a clear example as to why. When you have a lot of hits, shots, and goals, you know you played a hell of a game. These two teams are rivals and that makes it for some great playoff series. In the third period of today’s game, the Islanders found themselves down 2-1. They needed to find their offensive scoring touch and man did they ever.
J.G Pageau was acquired from the Senators last year and has fit in perfectly on this Islanders team. He rips one on the glove side past Tristen Jarry to tie the game in the third period. Brock Nelson is the leading goal scorer on this team for the second straight season. After a terrible attempt to clear the puck, Nelson rips one by Jarry to give the Islanders the lead. It would seem like the Islanders were going to hold on for the victory. Kasperi Kapanen has scored some big goals, but none were bigger than the tying goal just 31 seconds after Nelson. That goal would set up overtime.

Not only did J.G Pageau, the Islanders deadline acquisition last year, score a huge goal, but their acquisition this year also did as well. Kyle Palmieri hasn’t had the best start to his Islanders career. He only had two goals for the Islanders since the trade happened. Today, Palmieri delivered in a big way. He scores a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, to help the Islanders jump out to a 1-0 series lead over Pittsburgh.
Kyle Palmieri is loving this goal. #StanleyCup
