Philadelphia Flyers Destroy Seattle Kraken 6-1

Philadelphia Flyers

Carter Hart

Welcome to the NHL Seattle. The Kraken have played three games in their history before tonight. Every game has been decided by one goal. This includes a regulation loss to Vegas, a win over Nashville, and a shootout loss to Columbus. The Kraken have started their season with a 1-1-1 record. That isn’t too bad for an expansion franchise. That all changed tonight when they visited the Philadelphia Flyers. The biggest stars on the Flyers stepped up huge tonight.

The Philadelphia Flyers are a team to watch this season. They revamped their blue line with the acquisitions of Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen. They also got some more depth for their forwards with the acquisition of Cam Atkinson from Columbus. It all seems to be coming together for the Flyers to start the season. After a crushing loss in a shootout to Vancouver to start their season, the team came together and put a monster performance together against the Kraken. The Flyers skate away tonight with a massive 6-1 victory.

Carter Hart Shuts Down The Kraken

One storyline to follow this season is the play of Carter Hart. Hart had one of the worst sophomore seasons in recent memory last season for Philadelphia. His horrible play was a huge factor in the downfall of the Philadelphia Flyers last season. This season, he is looking for a massive bounce-back season. Tonight was a great start to the road back to greatness for Hart.

Hart managed to only allow one goal to the Kraken. He stopped 23 out of 24 Kraken shots. While the Kraken didn’t really put up much of a fight on the offensive side, Hart seemed to be ready for whatever was thrown his way. One play, in particular, was his incredible glove save on Jordan Eberle. If the Philadelphia Flyers want to be considered a contender this year, they need Carter Hart to perform at an elite level.

Offensive Outburst For Philadelphia

The biggest concern from Philadelphia last season was their defense. A sneaky under the radar problem was their inability to score goals when needed. That is why they needed to make a change and get rid of Jakub Voracek for Cam Atkinson. They also needed their big named players to step up and produce some offense. That message seems to have gotten to the team and did they ever put on a show tonight against the rookie franchise.

No game is a guarantee in this league. You need to go out and play with 100% effort each and every night. The core guys on the Flyers really stepped up tonight. Claude Giroux and Travis Konecny each scored a goal. Ryan Ellis and Derick Brassard scored their first goal as a Flyer. Joel Farabee and Justin Braun also scored for Philadelphia. A 6-1 victory on any night should be a huge confidence booster. Philadelphia needs to keep this up and ride this momentum for the early parts of the season.
