Hockey Day in America has started with a game we all saw coming. This season is officially a lost cause for the Buffalo Sabres. Everyone believed that a big-time addition like Taylor Hall would turn the team around, but it hasn’t. I know a certain Buffalo fan is pretty embarrassed to be a Sabres fan this season. After all the support the Sabres get, it is heartbreaking to see their fans get these results. The Sabres took on the Islanders today and just like yesterday, the Sabres lose again.
The defining moment of this game was Taylor Hall tripping on a breakaway with no one around him. He never even got a shot off on Sorokin. This Sabres team is dead last in the league standings and are 12 points behind Philadelphia for a playoff spot. This team is embarrassing. To make it worse, this is the third straight game against the Islanders they have lost by a score of 5-2. That means they are being outscored 15-6 in that span, but nobody is hurt more than Jack Eichel.

We need to see Jack Eichel play in the playoffs. It has been six years since Eichel was drafted by Buffalo number two overall and they have yet to have one playoff appearance. This is not Jack Eichel’s fault. This is poor management from the front office. The team around him isn’t playing to their potential and that is why the Buffalo Sabres lose again and again every night. The Islanders got their goals from Brock Nelson (8, 9), Anders Lee (12), Casey Cizikas (4), and Cal Clutterbuck (3). The Sabres get their goals from Jeff Skinner (1) and Colin Miller (3).
