After an unbelievable season to help Philadelphia claim a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference for the playoffs, Sean Couturier has been rewarded for his efforts. He is the recipient of the 2020 Frank J. Selke Trophy. This award is given every year to the forward that is the best defensively in the NHL. This is Couturier’s first time winning this award. He beats out reigning Selke Trophy winner Ryan O’Reilly and frequent finalist and winner Patrice Bergeron.

Couturier has been one of the most underrated two-way forwards in the game for quite a while. It is nice to see him get rewarded for his performance this season. Couturier led all forwards in the face-off percentage and lead the Flyers’ forwards in shorthanded time this season. Congratulations to Sean Couturier on a hell of a performance to win this award.
