OPINION – The Cleveland Browns Will Win The AFC North Division

Baker Mayfield

Cleveland has been waiting a long time for this. Their football team is actually watchable. After years of misery and humiliation that saw fans wear paper bags over their heads, Cleveland has a legitimate chance to make a run for the Lombardi Trophy this year. Baker Mayfield is legit, Kevin Stefanski is a high caliber head coach, and the running back tandem of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt is the best tandem in the entire NFL.

The only team that stands in their way for a division is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Heading into week 16, Pittsburgh stands at 11-3 while Cleveland stands with a 10-4 record. Looking at the two remaining games for each team, it is no question Cleveland has the advantage for their week 16 matchup compared to Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is in a major rut at the moment. After starting the season 11-0, the Steelers have dropped three straight to Washington, Buffalo, and Cincinnati. When you lose against a team like Buffalo, I can understand. Losing to Washington and Cincinnati is not a good look for you as a football team.

The Colts have been a sneaky team all season and have made a name for themselves against some pretty tough opponents. They sit at a comfortable 10-4 and have control of the second wild-card spot. Their top-five defense and insane run game are a nightmare to deal with. They are still fighting with Tennessee for their own division title and you know that they will want to destroy anyone in their path. This includes Pittsburgh.

The injuries for Pittsburgh are too much to overcome against a team like Indianapolis. Big Ben is clearly nagging an injury and is not himself. This has me believing Pittsburgh will lose the Indianapolis. Meanwhile, Cleveland travels to the Meadowlands to take on the 1-13 Jets. There is no way the Jets are going to pull off another upset like the one they pulled against the Rams last week. They just wanted to have the feeling of winning at least once this year and now that they got it, it is back to tanking for Trevor Lawrence.

If all of this happens, we will see a Pittsburgh vs Cleveland week 17 game that will see the winner take the crown for the AFC North Division and secure a home playoff game for Wild Card weekend. With all the troubles on offense and the injuries to their defense, I just don’t see Pittsburgh having the will to stop a team like Cleveland. The Browns are hot right now and I am riding with the Dawg Pound until the end. Hey Cleveland. You guys have something special this season.
