Former WWE Intercontinental champion “Luke Harper” died Saturday after battling a non-COVID-related lung issue, his family announced. He was only 41 years old. Jon Huber(his real name) was a superstar with WWE from 2012 to 2019 before jumping over to AEW in 2020, where he wrestled under the name Brodie Lee. Huber was a fan favorite with both organizations.
“He passed surrounded by love ones after a hard-fought battle with a non-Covid related lung issue. The [Mayo Clinic in Florida] is literally the best team of doctors and nurses in the world who surrounded me with constant love”. The announcement has shaken the entire wrestling community, and may he rest in peace. The tributes pouring in are incredibly emotional to read because they all mention just how great of a father he was to his two young boys.
It’s Saturday. You know what that means… Backstage in Mexico in 2015. Brodie was annoyed that he didn’t have his own merch t-shirt, so one of the brothers got a bunch made in his honor. We all wore them in tribute to the dude, cause everybody loved him. Just a wonderful man! pic.twitter.com/6XXl8Kr6iW
I’m devastated by the loss of Jon Huber, known to fans as Mr. Brodie Lee, formerly Luke Harper. Jon was a great man. His family came first, his loving wife Amanda & their sons Brodie + Nolan. He loved wrestling & was great at it, he loved you fans. Please keep him in your hearts.
