The UFC is leaning towards a rematch between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier for the UFC Lightweight Championship strap.
Some fans have been critical of McGregor getting a title shot coming off losing two of his last three fights in the octagon. However, the fact is that money talks and bullshit takes the bus. If you are a fighter that is mad about McGregor getting a title shot, you are an idiot. “The Notorious” has brought many eyeballs and truckloads of cash to the UFC’s doorstep. These fighters have profited exponentially from McGregor being a part of the UFC.

Dustin Poirier knocked McGregor out in round two of their main event fight at UFC 257. McGregor had a lot of time off from the cage before his fight with Donald Cerrone and about a year off after. Ring rust was clearly a factor and McGregor did not look like himself. Conor had his leg taken out by Poirier and was a lame-duck before being knocked out.
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Conor McGregor also says there will be “no more Mr. Nice Guy” next time around. McGregor has been humble and respectful since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, this time around the Irish superstar looks to go back to his old ways. Above all, McGregor will look to get that killer instinct back. McGregor will have to prove to the world that he is still the best striker in the sport if he gets a shot at revenge versus Poirier.

This rematch makes sense from a business point of view for the UFC. Death, taxes, and fight fans buying McGregor pay-per-views. Dustin Poirier deserves the title and with what McGregor has done for the company, he has earned his rematch whether you like him or not. With the UFC leaning towards McGregor versus Poirier three looks like it will happen. Fight fans; who do you got?
