UFC Vegas 19 is this Saturday at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas.
Four fighters failed to make weight this week. The most notable was Rafael Alves who missed weight by 11.5 pounds. Alves missed lightweight by a pound and a half. Unfortunately, the fight was scheduled at featherweight. Furthermore, As the UFC is not going to allow a welterweight to fight a featherweight this fight is now off per UFC officials.
The ironic part about Rafael Alves missing weight by 11 lbs is he had a full camp whereas his opponent Sabatini took this fight on a week notice and made weight. #UFCVegas19

Ketlen Vieira, Jared Gordon, and Drako Rodriguez all also missed weight. Gordan missed weight by four pounds and will be fined 30 percent of his purse. Additionally, Rodriguez missed weight by four and a half pounds and will also be fined 30 percent of his purse. Finally, Vieira missed weight by two pounds and will be fined 20 percent of her purse.
With roster cuts on the horizon, Dana White may be taking away some dough from these fighters. However, the green kind of dough, not the dough responsible for these drastic weight cut misses. Look for the UFC to start the Dana White diet in the near future.
Lewis Vs. Blaydes at UFC Vegas 19
The main event is a heavyweight matchup between two of the top contenders in the heavyweight division. The number two contender Curtis Blaydes will face the number four contender Derrick Lewis. This is a fight the was postponed in November after Blaydes tested positive for Covid-19.
Both fighters are riding win streaks coming into this matchup. Blaydes is on a four-fight win streak and Lewis is on a three-fight win streak of his own. In a normal climate, the winner of this fight would not only be a lock for the number one contender spot but after Stipe and Ngannou throw down would also be next in line for a title shot. However, with Jon Jones making the move to heavyweight the winner may have to watch from the sidelines for a while or grab another fight before fighting for the heavyweight strap.
Derrick Lewis is widely looked at as the funniest fighter on social media for his hilarious Twitter posts. Additionally, his past comments towards former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey are noteworthy. Although, Curtis Blaydes gives Lewis a run for his money with his hilarious Instagram posts. Either way, the fight goes the UFC will come away with a heavyweight number one contender that can sell Pay-Per-Views. We at Tarps Off can’t wait for UFC Vegas 19.
